Estimates only. Estimates only. Figures on this page use published plan-year values and the details you enter. They are not a quote, an offer of coverage, or a determination of eligibility. Your final premium and any tax credit are confirmed at enrollment with the carrier or HealthCare.gov. Everything is calculated in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

What this assumes

  • 2026 limits from IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-19: $4,400 for self-only coverage and $8,750 for family coverage.
  • Age 55 or older? You can add a $1,000 catch-up contribution.
  • You must be covered by an HSA-eligible high-deductible plan (in 2026, a deductible of at least $1,700 self-only or $3,400 family) and not enrolled in Medicare.
  • Contributions through payroll also skip the 7.65% Social Security and Medicare tax. Contributions you make yourself do not.
  • Arizona’s income tax is a flat 2.5% for 2026, and Arizona follows the federal treatment of HSA contributions. Confirm your own situation with a tax professional.
  • Employer contributions count toward the same limit.
  • An estimate from published figures and the numbers you enter, not a quote or an eligibility decision.

Common questions

What are the HSA contribution limits for 2026?

$4,400 for self-only coverage and $8,750 for family coverage (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-19), plus $1,000 if you are 55 or older.

Who can open a Health Savings Account?

Someone covered by an HSA-eligible high-deductible health plan with no other disqualifying coverage and not enrolled in Medicare. In 2026 the plan deductible must be at least $1,700 for self-only or $3,400 for family coverage.

Do HSA contributions lower Arizona state tax?

Arizona starts from federal adjusted gross income, so HSA contributions that lower your federal income also lower the income Arizona taxes at its flat 2.5% rate for 2026. Confirm your situation with a tax professional.

Can I still contribute to an HSA after I start Medicare?

No. Once any part of Medicare starts you can no longer contribute, but you can keep using the money for qualified medical costs, including Medicare premiums other than Medigap.
